Hey Jesse, all our lens motors have a limit to how many times they can rotate in order to prevent overheating, it's about seven rotations at the spindle. A larger gear will help the motor travel further. We're looking into extending the maximum rotation for some macro lenses, but infinite rotation isn't possible.

Hey there! Thanks for the question. The recessed negative pin on the dtap socket is one of several methods to reduce the chance of power being sent through an SDI cable from a monitor to the camera, which can damage the SDI boards in both devices. This is unique to D-Tap connectors due to their plastic construction - other connectors like Lemo or Fischer connectors have a metal housing and do not have the same issue. One of the best methods for preventing damage is to always make sure that your accessories are connected to power before SDI, and disconnected after SDI is disconnected.

Selling your color science as a standalone feature to other cameras, feels like what Kodak and Fuji did in the old days. It has a bigger market. And it will innovate more photographers to try cinematography.

Hi there, thanks for your comment. This video was shot with the ALEXA Mini LF, which has a large format sensor, but Signature Zooms work equally well on Super35 cameras such as the ALEXA 35.

Hi there, thanks for the question. We believe in offering options to cinematographers, as each project requires its own approach - some are better suited to large format, and some to Super 35. We had many requests from DPs to introduce a new S35 camera, as that is the format that has the longest historical legacy with filmmaking, and many creatives were excited to use their existing S35 lenses on a next-generation camera. The new sensor technology in the ALEXA 35 is only available with Super 35 sized sensors currently.

Hey there, the Hi-5 SX is able to use all existing lens files, such as those provided by a rental house with a set of lenses, as well as all lens files found in the ECS sync app. It also supports LDS and /i capable lenses. It will also work with lens files managed by a separate Hi-5, for example when a DIT is using a Hi-5 SX for iris control. Lens file creation is also available with the SX Plus License along with a number of other extended features including diopter compensation.

Fucking joke. Are we doing DLCs on professional gear now. When the hardware can do it sell it for one price with all functions enabled. Thats just ridiculous. Same shit as the camera control license. It just needs an industry standard for start/stop, playback, shutter, fps and so on that everyone should use and is an open source or free protocol.

@@fab-sterI think it is a pretty good move. Yes a smaller Handunit would have been cheaper for the user, but this way you get a lower entry price and don’t have to pay almost 10k. And If you need more features in the future you can buy the license if you wish and don’t stuck with hardware that you have to sell. If you what all the features you can buy the Hi-5. And the licenses is a different story. This is a small industry and yes, a standard for camera controls would be nice. But then a company like Arri still would need to implement and program that and then still would have the option to charge for that extra feature. So what is your problem? That you don’t get everything for free? Yes it is expensive, but it is a professional tool that will make you money - not a PS5 game. And you are hopefully not a teenager that is paying with his/her allowance money for that. Get a Tilta Nucleus If you are not making the jobs that pay for the highest level of equipment.

The Hi-5 SX will create a vector file on a USB stick, which you can then customize and print however you like! In this video we used sticky label sheets in a laser printer, nothing fancy, and they're quite durable.

Hey John, yes you are. Hi-5 SX users with the All-Axis license can also use the force-pad and slider to input those values instead of typing them in.

Hi there, User Button functions have to be available in the camera to be toggled with the Hi-5. With ALEXA 35, you can set Mirror Image as a Hand Unit user button to enable this. With other cameras, the Mirror Image user button isn't available, but you can accomplish the same function with a User Setup Parameter Block. There's more detail in the camera manual, for example page 116 of the ALEXA Mini LF user manual, available at arri.com/sups.

Hey Matt, the user button will toggle the peaking option on and off, to change the settings you'll need to go into the Menu. It's Menu > Monitoring > Peaking. There are different options depending on if you're using the VF connection or SDI.
